Appasaheb Patwardhan, the founder of our parent body, was a staunch follower of non-violence, truth, and self-restraint—a true patriot and humanitarian. To honor his legacy, the institution has resolved to create a memorial fund of ?10 lakh in his name. The interest from this fund is used to assist needy and meritorious students financially.
The inspiration for this fund came to Shinde Guruji, former president of the organization, when he was conferred the "Appasaheb Patwardhan Award" in March 1999. He donated the ?2,500 prize money along with an additional ?525 from his own funds to establish the Appasaheb Patwardhan Smriti Nidhi, which was duly approved by the institution.
Since then, contributions have increased, and as of this financial year, the fund has grown to ?5,00,000. The interest generated supports the educational and cultural needs of students from both hostels.
